About this trip

Four countries in nine days sounds rushed, and usually is. This version is not: cities are connected by fast rail rather than long coach transfers, and each stop keeps at least one unscheduled half-day. You see Paris, the Swiss Alps, Venice and Rome without spending the holiday on a motorway.

It suits first-time visitors to Europe, families with older children, and couples who would rather walk a neighbourhood than tick off a list. Hotels are central three- and four-star, chosen for walking distance to a station rather than for a rate.

Day by day

Arrival at Charles de Gaulle, private transfer to the hotel and a free evening. For late arrivals we keep the day open deliberately.
Guided morning covering the Louvre exterior, Notre-Dame, Champs-Élysées and the Arc de Triomphe. Eiffel Tower second-level tickets in the afternoon, river cruise at dusk.
A full day at Disneyland Paris with park tickets and rail passes, or a free day in the city with a Versailles option. Choose when you book.
High-speed rail to Basel and on to Interlaken. Afternoon free by the lake; the Höheweg is a short walk from the hotel.
Cogwheel railway to Jungfraujoch at 3,454 m — ice palace, observation deck and the Aletsch glacier. Warm layers matter even in July.
Scenic rail across the Alps into Italy. Evening arrival, water-taxi transfer, and dinner near the hotel.
St Mark's Square, the Doge's Palace exterior, a Murano glass demonstration and a shared gondola ride. Afternoon free for the back canals.
Rail to Rome, then a guided afternoon: Colosseum exterior, Roman Forum, Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps. Vatican Museums can be added.
Transfer to Fiumicino for the return flight. Late departures leave time for a last morning in the city.
